PRO ANA.

PRO ANA.
Is......
The promotion of ANOREXIA NERVOSA as a lifestyle choice, Rather than an EATING DISORDER.

A lesser known term is PRO MIA refers likewise to BULIMIA NERVOSA. Sometimes interchangeably used with PRO ANA.

There are websites and forums promoting PRO ANA.
They show you real ideas and hints on how to be extremely sick.
They swap pictures for ideas too.
Its discusting!

THIS IS ALL FCKING DISTURBING AND UPSETTING.

Social networks such as Facebook, Myspace, Xanga, Bebo, and many other related sites also promote the so called support for the illness more than the sufferers.

Members of the internet groups share..... Tips and techniques on crash dieting, compete with each other to lose weight, advise on how to induce vomiting, tips on hiding the severe weight loss from friends and family, and suggestions on ways to ignore hunger pangs.

I checked with all kinds of doctors and websites to see if i got my facts right before creating this blog, its something close to my heart as a former sufferer. Im not proud of it.

But im trully not impressed that groups are still ongoing.

And do remember that males/boys also have this condition too and not to stereo type it.
As anorexia is well known to have more girls/women having it.

I wonder what my followers think of my comments and feelings on the subject.

  1. Not good. Why would anyone want to help other people make a mess of their lives and, indeed, kill themselves?

I don't know how you stop it apart from putting pressure on the networks involved.

  2. I feel some of it is down to many things, i see them as these...... low self confidence/self esteem, and i know the mani one is peer pressure, like you have said before on TAO there is pressure from the teen magazines where everyone wants to be super slim like the moron that is Victoria Beckham.

    Its so sad.

The consequences to EATING DISORDERs are serious and can prove fatal in many cases.

I have seen first hand thse consequences and its not nice to witness.

The way i see it is this, get a campaign set up to remove the sites and let it be known this needs to stop.
Then get the people going through these illnesses the right professional help that they need, even if i have to do it myself if that is the case.

  3. I am studying this subject in detail and not liking the information that i have found.

But it is about time that the sites and groups were stopped and maybe i could launch a new career in treating people with these disorders.

I dont want to go on about it, i just want to learn more about what makes people do harm to themselves before i get into more adult subjects and blog about an erotic story im working on.

  4. One final point, Victoria Beckham is all over the magazines at the moment showing that she is all skin and bone.

How sad is that? she has some extreme case of eating disorder or something as she has broken fingernails and the skin surrounding it from what i read.

I believe she is taking her habits too far and i fear an early death for her.
Id be deeply sorry for dozy David and the boys.

  5. Nobody seems to be commenting on this subject.

Now according to last weeks news on yahoo, it appears there is a new eating disorder.
    MANOREXIA.
I hear that this eating disorder male related, main causes are the recession and obviously money worries, job anxiety and redundancy (real and threatened) are another factor. These have an impact on self - esteem which can lead to men becoming anorexic and bulimic.

I also found information again on the internet about common myths surrounding Anorexia Nervosa.

    - Anorexia Nervosa only occurs in women.
    - Anorexia Nervosa is a disorder of privillege occuring mainly in the upper and middle classes.

    - Anorexia Nervosa is caused by families

    - Anorexia Nervosa is caused by simple dieting which gets out of control.

    - Anorexia Nervosa IS NOT A SERIOUS DISORDER.
Well that is total b lox for a start.

    - Once you have Anorexia Nervosa, you will never recover, you will always be 'An Anorexic'.
That is not true at all.

With the right help and support every person with an eating disorder can make a gradual recovery.

  6. It's a sad reflection of our society where celebrities influence what we do - even though we don't understand that fame kills these people anyway.

Too many people want to be somebody else and need to learn to love themselves.
